The following are active mission projects supported by the contributions of time, money and prayer of members of the church, and coordinated through the church’s Council on Ministries. Please review this information and consider prayerfully how God may be calling you to serve in a more active capacity in one of these missions! Please contact the person listed at the end of each project profile for more information and to sign up or get involved.
United Methodist Women
UMW is a part of the Women's Division of the
· material support
for the poor in Stone Mountain and
· enjoyable experiences for the elderly residents of Budd Terrace, a mid-level unit of Wesley Woods
· contributions of both canned and boxed foods to the Stone Mountain Pantry
· book bags for needy school children
· education to the congregation and community on annual mission themes.
We need people to help with:
· support to the Stone Mountain Pantry throughout the year
· collect supplies for the school book bag project prior to start of school year
· volunteering to help with Bingo Night at Budd Terrace the second Tuesday night each month
· financial commitments to the Women’s Division’s Pledge to

Wesley Walk for Others
Annual project held on the last Saturday of October. People of all ages are
encouraged to seek pledges for contributions from the congregation and friends
in exchange for walking around
PRISM (Pride Rings In Stone Mountain)
A community organization focused on advocacy, service, and education for the
heart of Dekalb County, PRISM is centered around Memorial Drive, South from
Redan Road, North on Ponce de Leon, this side of Avondale to around Covington
Highway.
Our objective is to educate and mobilize the community on issues of concern to
this area. Current concerns are health, safety, economic development, community
development, education, and protecting the environment. This connects the St.
Timothy UMC congregation with surrounding community in a concrete way.
Our needs are for volunteers to:
· help distribute information on programs to the congregation and broader community
· attend community forums held the second Thursday of every month
· serve on the board and take leadership of committees

This ministry provides food and limited utility payments to people of need in
zip codes 30083 and 30080. Volunteers are specifically needed in November
to work at the pantry on Monday, Wednesday or Friday. In August backpacks
are assembled for school children (in conjunction with United Methodist
Women). There is a year round need for
cereals, powdered milk, pasta/noodles, spaghetti sauce, tuna, canned meats,
rice, beans, peanut butter, jelly, soups, and fruit juices. See bulletin
announcements for times and needs and look for the basket in the church to

The United Methodist Children's Home
The mission of the United Methodist Children's Home is to provide redemptive,
healing services that bring meaningful change to the lives of struggling children
and families. Grounded by scripture and the tradition of the church, we seek to
bring the wholeness of God's love to persons through Christ.
Volunteers are needed to:
· tutor children/youth and help with homework
· offer one-time classes or ongoing lessons
· establish Big Brother/Big Sister relationships with individual children/youth
· come to the home
in
· join the auxiliary and help with tri-annual flea markets
· lift up prayer requests and make financial contributions
· be a foster family for children needing temporary homes or adoption.

United Methodist Men
UMM seeks the participation of all the congregation in its projects:
· the Angel Foods Ministry, a national food distribution
program headquartered in
· Boy Scouting - UMM is the chartering organization for Cub Scout Pack 70. Many members of the Pack's adult leadership are members of UMM. Last year we assisted the Scouts with a scrap metal recycling campaign that contributed a significant amount of resources to the Pack. As with the Cub Scouts, most of the adult leadership of Boy Scout Troop 70 are members and active participants in UMM.
· The rebuilding of Leigh Hall at the United Methodist Children's Home. For more information see: www.ngcumm.org.
Areas where we need the congregation’s assistance:
· taking Angel Food orders during the week, helping with transportation and distribution, and canvassing the surrounding area;
· volunteers for scouting events;
· skilled laborers and craftsmen to volunteer along with unskilled volunteers to help with common work-site tasks of rebuilding Leigh Hall at the Children’s Home;
· providing one or more lunches at the site and possibly hosting a dinner type meal from time to time at the Children’s Home.

Support to the Open Door Community
This project provides meals to the staff of the Open Door, which is a residential community that works to dismantle racism and sexism by serving the homeless poor. The opportunity to take meals to the staff of Open Door, located at 910 Ponce de Leon in downtown Atlanta, also provides an opportunity to members of St. Timothy to get to know this center, which has many needs and many opportunities for learning about and serving the very poor.
Current needs of this project and the Open Door Community:
· help prepare, transport and serve supper for the community (staff) on the last Tuesday of every month;
· make sandwiches for the hungry homeless guests
· work in the soup kitchen to serve the homeless guests
· drive vehicles to Hardwick prison for visitors to visit the prisoners
· answer the phone at Open Door
· collect towels and blankets for the homeless.

Refugee Resettlement and Immigration Services of
RRISA provides resettlement services to refugees, asylees and victims of human trafficking. These people have been forced to flee their country because of a well-founded fear of persecution due to reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. A refugee either cannot return home or is afraid to do so. They need volunteers to help with:
· driving people to appointments
· teaching people how to ride MARTA (accompany them and show how)
· sorting clothes at their clothes closet
